Encased Coins - Encased Cents

An encased coin is a coin, most often a cent, that has been forcibly inserted into a prepared hole machined into a ring or encasement of metal that has then been stamped with an advertising or souvenir message. One side usually has the message "Keep Me and Never Go Broke".

Typical or Most Popular reverse die work on encased coins include the following:

  • Keep Me And Never Go Broke
  • Keep Me And Never Go Broke / I Bring / Good Luck
  • Keep Me And You Will Have Good Luck
  • I Bring Good Luck / Keep Me And Never Good Broke

The Most Popular shape of encased coins is round. However other shape such as Horseshoe-shaped pieces exist as well. Rare shapes include the Bell and the supper rare Goblet and Chamber Pot (pictured above).
